Handbell Choir

The Chancel Bells are an intermediate-level handbell choir, formed in the fall of 2016 and featuring members from both Bellissima and Ringtones, two previous bell choirs at First Presbyterian Church. They rehearse in the balcony at 4:00 P.M. most Thursday afternoons and strive to play in worship about once per month.

Are you a bell ringer with previous experience? We encourage you to join us! If interested, please contact Peter Rogahn at (615) 298-9538 or progahn@fpcnashville.org.

Recent Arrivals

Thanks to a generous anonymous donation by a lover of handbells, these newly made bells joined FPC’s four octaves of Malmark bells on the Wednesday after Easter of 2012. The C3 and F3 bells play as the C two octaves below middle C and the F immediately above that. Made of aluminum, they are considerably lighter in weight than the bronze ones of the same pitch. Eric Near rang them for the first time on April 15, 2012 when the Ringtones played “Now the Green Blade Rises” for the opening voluntary. We invite you to climb to the balcony to see these “ginormous” (as described by one ringer) additions.

Soli Deo gloria!
